CTET - COMMON TEACHER ELIGIBILITY TEST



To improve the standard of teaching quality in Primary and Elementary stages in schools in the country, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has decided to conduct a National level test for individuals so that they become eligible for appointment as teacher from Class I to Class VIII. This test will set a benchmark for teacher recruiting process in the country. 

Qualifying in CTET is no guarantee for employment/ recruitment as it is one of the eligibility criteria for appointment of teachers.   


Eligibility
For Primary stage: Minimum qualification:-
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing
in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing
in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known),
in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. 
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing
in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing
in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
OR
Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

For Elementary stage: Minimum qualification:-
Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary
Education (by whatever name known).
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in
Education (B.Ed).
OR
Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in
Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure)
Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing
in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing
in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)

Paper II – 9.30 hrs to 12.00 hrs (for persons to intend being teachers for Class VI to Classs VIII)
Paper I – 14.00 hrs to 16.30 hrs (for persons to intend being teachers for Class I to Classs V)
Exam mode
150 Mutiple choice questions for each paper with no negative marking
