GUIDELINE VALUE IN TAMILNADU
KNOW THE GUIDELINE VALUE OF YOUR LAND ONLINE
If you are residing in Tamilnadu and own a property in it or wish to own one, you can view the guideline value of that place online. A guideline value is the government determined rate for a property, which will act as guideline to the buyer or seller of the property. It helps the registering officer to detect if there is any undervaluation of property. It should truly reflect the market value.
The guideline values have been fixed for each survey number. In well established residential areas, the same has been fixed for each street. In practical experience it is seen that the market value is much higher than the guideline value. On rare occasions the market value is lower than the guideline value. This can be brought to the notice of IG of Registrations for necessary corrections.
The guideline value is being reviewed periodically by a Committee at the State level and the values are fixed. The last review was done in August 2007. These have been posted in the net for benefit of the people in Tamilnadu. Guideline values of 1.1 lakh streets and 29 million survey numbers and sub division numbers can be searched in this site. You can view the guideline values at http://www.tnreginet.net/igr/guideline_value.htm . There are guideline values given for three periods. You can choose any one and view the values. (click on the image to get an enlarged view)
1) First Choose the zone
2) Select the sub registrar office
3) Then choose the village under the sub registrar office
4) Choose the first alphabet of the street name and view the details
The guideline value is expressed for sq.ft and sq.mt and also the category of the land is given. You can also search the guideline value by knowing the survey number.

TRAIN TIME TABLE - KONKAN RAILWAY
RAILWAY TIME TABLE - KONKAN RAILWAY
Konkan Railway was constructed by Konkan Railway Corporation. It runs between Mumbai and Mangalore on the western coast of India. These two cities were not connected directly by rail prior to this venture. The total distance is around 760 kms. Konkan region lies between the Arabian sea on the west and the Sahyadri mountain range on the east. Laying a railway line in this scenic area was a challenge by itself, due to the difficult terrain involved. The route had to meander its way through the valleys, mountains, over the rivers. Indian engineers were up for the challenge and completed the project. It was dedicated to the nation on January 26 1998. Opening of this railway line has resulted in the reduction of distance between stations and thereby reducing traveling time of long distance trains. There are 59 stations, 179 major bridges (longest bridge in this railway is about 2 kms over Sharavati river), 1819 minor bridges, 320 curves enroute.
One has to travel over Konkan Railways to enjoy the experience. To view the timetable of Konkan Railway go to http://www.konkanrailway.com/ and place the cursor on passenger info menu. Click on the time table link the following screen will appear. (click on the image to get an enlarged view)
If you know the train no. type the train no. and click submit you will get the schedule of that particular train or else select one of the trains from the drop down menu and click submit. You will be able to view the train schedule.

ISD CODES ONLINE
BSNL'S ONLINE SEARCH FOR ISD CODES
International Subscriber Dialing (ISD) is a number which should be prefixed before a phone number, if you are calling to a foreign country. It is usually a one, two or three digit number representing the country with which you want to communicate to. International calls are made using this prefix number. Each country has a unique number which is added as a prefix before the phone number. Now the terminology has changed from ISD (International Subscriber Dialing) to IDD (International direct dialing) in some countries.
While making international calls, though the phone number will normally contain the ISD code, sometimes we will be in need of ISD code of that country. BSNL has provided a online search facility of ISD codes. Go to http://www.bsnl.co.in/isdsearch.php to know the ISD code. (click on the image to get an enlarged view)
Here we can search either by country name or by country code. If we give the country name we will receive the country code as the output or if we know the code but not the country, then we can give the code and the country will be given as the output. We have also search options such as giving the country name partially or starting with starting letters of the country. Also all the ISD codes are arranged alphabetically (according to the country name), so that we can view the country code easily.

Chennai Metro Water and Sewerage Board- Online Complaints
Online Complaints
Tamilnadu government is in the forefront of e governance in Indian States. Lot of government services to the common man are being accessed via internet. People can sit in their drawing rooms and avail the services such as obtaining birth certificate, nativity certificate, encumbarance certificate etc. Only few services have been listed above. There are lot of other services offered and many other services in the pipeline.
The main advantage of e-governance is that it removes the middle men involved in the process and as a result corruption is reduced to a large extent. The process is almost instanteous and there is no waiting period.
One of the services which is interesting is the filing of complaints about Chennai metro water and sewerage system online. Gone are days when you had to chase a engineer or a employee of the department to attend to your grieviance. If you have any complaint or grieviance about metro water or the sewage you can go to http://www.chennaimetrowater.com/onlinetxt.htm and register your complaint online. All you need to know is your CMC no. which will be available in your tax paying card. Fill in all the basic details required alongwith the CMC no. and submit your complaint. You will get a feedback on your complaint within few days. You can choose mode of feedback such as post, phone or email.
The complaint is attended promptly and the feedback is given to us immediately. So do not waste time and energy by physically going to the department of Chennai metro for airing your grieviance; file your complaint online and relax!

Travelogue on Ooty
Udhagamandalam, better known as Ooty is situated in the western ghats at an altitude of 2240m above sea level. It’s the capital of the Niligris district of Tamilnadu and most favoured hill station of Southern India. The British were the first to discover it in early 1800s and made it the summer capital of the then Madras Presidency, as the mercury does not cross 25oC during summer. They were also instrumental in constructing the The Nilgiri Mountain Railway. It is 46 Km long and runs on 1000 mm gauge railway. It connects Mettupalayam (which is in the foothills) to Ooty. It is one of the most picturesque train journeys in India, as the train passes through tunnels, over waterfalls, rivers, cliffs etc. Though it takes around 4 to 5 hours to reach Ooty from Mettupalayam, the train ride is mandatory to get a panoramic view of scenic beauty of Nilgris. An interesting feature about this train is that the engine pushes the train from behind when ascending the hills and is in front while going downhill so that the train does not run amuck.
