Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai is an institute working under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. There's a lot the institute does for the persons with sensory (hearing and vision),physical and mental disabilities. The institute offers various under graduate and post graduate programmes in various aspects of rehabilitation of persons with sensory,physical and mental disabilities. It uses technology to great effect in disseminating the latest developments in the science of hearing.

One such feature which is available to common man online is to check his/ her hearing sensitivity. Though it is not practical to take a hearing test online, it is easier to test one's hearing sensitivity through online. The hearing sensitivity is assessed through a test.

Log on to http://checkhearing.nic.in/index.asp .The test is free and anybody can take the test online. A person is categorised under any one of the four categories based on the age. Before taking the test you are required to give all your details such as name, address, telephone, email etc. The test consists of a set of 10 questions for which an individual has to give his/ her answers. Based on the answers the sensitivity of your ears is assessed. The results are given instantaneously.
